The photographs show the AYPA players at St. Peter's Hall performing the scene "Silas Pettingill's Country Store" from the play "Music at the Crossroads", directed by Stewart Dickson. The caption on the back of one of the images identifies the people as follows: Back row, left to right: Harry Shama, Jimmy Korrey, Sterling Walker, Stewart Dickson (Director), Canon Malone, Marjorie MacPherson (later Marjorie Vessey), Delma Peake (later Delma Horne), Helen Acorn (later Helen Jewell), Art MacLean. Front row, left to right: Marion Peake, Mary Acorn (later Mary Hooper), Hilda Pickard, Peter Shama, Barb Pickard, Robert Acorn, Eleanor Kays.

The photographs show the war memorial plaque inside the Cathedral door commemorating the Great War 1914-1918. Wording for the plaque is as follows: Their Name Liveth for Evermore. To the Glory of God and in Pious Memory of those who Laid down their lives in the Great War 1914-1918 especially John Francklyn Peters ( Pte. 7th Batt. C.E.F, April 24th 1916 aged 22 years), Gerald Hamilton Peters ( Lieut. 7th Batt. C.E.F, June 3rd 1917 aged 22 years), Harry Cuthbert Stuart D.C.M. (Lieut. 2nd Batt. C.E.F, Sept. 9, 1916 aged 28 years), Stewart Basil Simpson (Lieut. 5th CMR, C.E.F, Oct. 1st 1919, aged 22 years), Arthur Leigh Collett (Lieut. 8 Goucesters B.E.F. Nov. 18th 1917 aged 25 years), Noel L. Tooker (Capt. 54th Batt. C.E.F. March 1st 1917, aged 34 years), Henry Turner Cabonnell (Pte. St. Peter's Church Hall photographs

The photographs show interior and exterior views of the old cathedral hall before demolition. Photograph A shows the interior facing a stage at front. Photograph B shows the interior with folding doors at back. Photograph C shows the main entrance door from the outside. Photograph D shows the exterior facing All Souls' Lane. Photograph E shows the exterior facing Fitzroy Street. Photograph F shows the kitchen.

Demolition of the Church Hall

The photographs show the demolition of the old Church Hall. The event was described by Father Peter Harris as follows: "watched by a group of parishioners, the machine with the wrecking ball and mechanical jaws performed the actual taking down of the old building. By 4 pm, the old Hall had been reduced to a pile of rubble. By October, the Hall was almost complete and usable." Only photos A B C have been scanned.

The photographs show the cast of the AYPA play "The Bishop's Candlesticks" posing in costume. The caption on the back of one of the images identifies the people in the photographs as: Peter Shama, Milton Acorn, Arthur MacLean, Mary Acorn (later Mary Hooper) , Stewart Dickson (director), Barbara Pickard. They were the Drama Festival Winners of 1948.

All Souls' Chapel painting restoration photographs
