This edition of the New Testament is bound with brass edging. Inscribed on the inside is "James Hubbard Easton -- Christmas Day 1870".

The publication presented bible symbols, "designed and arranged to stimulate a greater interest in the study of the Bible by both young and old." The bible is inscribed "L. J. MacPherson".

Self-Interpreting Holy Bible containing the Old and New Testaments
The "self-interpreting" bible, with notes by Rev. John Brown, D.D., is also referred to within St. Peter's Cathedral Church as "the Wadman Bible." Inside the pages of the book are an envelope addressed to T. Edgar McNutt from William H. H. Wadman, postmarked 22 August 1963, enclosing a letter asking that the bible be put into safekeeping at St. Peter's Cathedral. William Wadman notes that the bible contains a family record of the family of Henry D. Wadman. The genealogical information itself is listed on pages between the Old and New Testaments.
The Holy Bible with a Devotional and Practical Commentary
The publication includes no inscriptions or notes. One thick volume in original light brown leather with ornate raised panels on front cover. Some of the raised areas, and joints, are rubbed. Original metal clasps firmly intact. 1500 pp. First title page gives a publication location of London, the New Testament title page indicates XXXX.
The publication includes a bookplate for "St. Peter's Sunday School" and has an embossed front cover.

The selection will be reviewed periodically and items added or removed as new information is received related to their provenance and relationship to the church.
