Edward Jarvis Hodgson portrait
The formal studio portrait shows Edward Jarvis Hodgson seated at a desk with papers in his hand and on the ottoman in front of him. On the reverse is written "Master of the Rolls, P.E.I," which confirms his identity and title.
The photograph is a portrait of John Ellis. The inscription on the back reads "John Ellis Assistant Priest 1871-1877." Above that inscription, written in pencil, is "Mrs. E. J. Hodgson." It is unclear why there are two inscriptions. The photographer is identified as based in Calcutta.
Fort Edward drawing -- photograph
The photograph shows a pen and ink drawing of Fort Edward with a view of the bay at Victoria Park, Charlottetown. The caption reads "Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island -- from a sketch by W. O. Carlisle"; also on the image is "1872".
The sketch depicts parishioners and choir, Matins 1872.
The framed print hung in the chapter room for years and is signed R. Harris. A typed note was on the back of the sketch that states: " Presented by Charles E. Carman to the Chapter Room of St. Peter's Cathedral, Ch'town in loving memory of happy days spent in the Parish when his dear Friend George W Hodgson was Priest. Feast of All Saints, 1902. The original handwritten script remains with the frame.
Father Peter Harris adds the following items of note about the sketch: The text above the stained glass window and brick wall are no longer visible. as are the stars are shown on the ceiling. The rood screen (installed December 1873) is not present.
Bishops of England 1874 photograph
The poster shows 30 head and shoulder portraits of the Bishops of England as of 1874.
Archdeacon [Hamelbach?] portrait
The photograph is a head and shoulders portrait of Archdeacon [Karlbach?]. The handwriting on the back indicates " Archdeacon [Karlbach?]." At the bottom of the front is stamped the photographers name: Notman & Campbell, Boston. The correct name of the man in the image needs to be confirmed.
The portrait shows Reverend Dr. Wright sitting in a three-quarter-length pose. A handwritten note on the back of the photograph reads "Rev. Dr. Wright, Montreal, Locum Tenens St. Peters and Georgetown Gave Lectern." According to Holy Trinity Church, Georgetown records Box 87, File 2, "J .M. Wright" was present at that church in 1878-1879 and in 1882-1884. Further identifying information is needed to confirm his name and role.
