Institutionele geschiedenis

The Rural Deanery was formed in 1909 after the dissolution of the Clerical Association of P.E.I. The Clerical Association had been formed in Crapaud, Prince Edward Island, in 1887 to provide licensed Anglican clergy with the opportunity to meet to pray, socialize, and plan church and community events. The Rural Deanery continued the same general activities. The closure of the Rural Deanery is still to be confirmed.

Geschiedenis beheer

The Rural Deanery minute books are part the backlog of records held by St. Peter's Cathedral Church, which were relocated from the church bell tower to the church basement in and then moved into a purpose-built archival room. The records were among others that had been stored in boxes and bags at one point and original order was lost.

Bereik en inhoud

The archives consist of two minute books: one titled “Minute Book, Rural Deanery, 1914-48,”dating from 24 June 1914 to 22 June 1948, and one titled “Deanery Chapter Meetings 1957-68,” dating from 14-15 January 1957 to 20 February 1968.
