Custodial history
As part of their work to organize the backlog of church archives, St. Peter's Cathedral Church archives volunteers brought together all loose photographs found among the archives and described them individually or in small groups using description worksheets. As of 2020, descriptions of individual photographs have been entered into AtoM as item-level descriptions, using the PHOTO numbers assigned by the volunteers. Many of the photographs were created as part of official activities of the church, while others appear to have been loaned or donated by members of the church community.
In the absence of detailed information about provenance, the photographs are being treated as an artificial collection. They have been defined as St. Peter's Cathedral Church property for descriptive and management purposes, but users are advised to confirm copyright conditions before using any images for any purpose other than personal research.
Scope and content
The photograph collection consists of 500+ b&w, colour, and sepia, and digital photographic images, including prints and a small number of negatives. Some images were created by or relate to St. Peter's Cathedral Church and its activities. Others appear to have been donated by members of the church because the images depict some event or topic relevant to the church's history. The collection will continue to expand as new photographs are added, with full provenance and copyright information captured whenever possible.

Accruals
New photographs that come into St. Peter's Cathedral Church Archives from various sources are being added to this collection. Full provenance and copyright or ownership information is being whenever it is known. Photographs that are received as part of a larger donation are identified as part of that donation in the first instance and then assigned an individual photograph number in advance of description, digitization, and storage.
